The Perhentain Islands are paradise literally. They are on the east coast of malaysia and are the dogs b******s if you want a week of peace and quiet of a beach go there. We took this speed boat with two 200bhp engines to the islands was by far the best mode of transport we have taken so far as it was a little choppy to make things interesting. We stayed on long beach in this beach chalet thing 10 metres away from the beach for something stupid like 2 pounds a night. The island was really small with not too many people on it which was quite nice and is still relatively untouched. We did this snorkeling trip which was incredible we saw loadsa turtles and i free dived down to them and touched a couple which was pretty cool. After that successful first trip we went to 'shark point' where we I saw about 15 to 20 black tip sharks, was awesome the largest one i saw was 1.5 metres and got pretty close to it after i dived down but they are seriously quick. After that i wasnt too bothered about seeing anything else but we did a couple more places where we saw some pretty big fish again very cool. The only downside to all this was that when i was attempting free diving i went doiwn pretty far and didnt equalize properly and my left ear is now a little muted (if anyone knows a cure that would be appreciated.) We met these nutter girls on the eve of pats birthday which was a mistake as we stayed up pretty late dancing in the moonlight of this pretty cool bar when we had to be up early the next day.
