Sunday began with a big sleep in for the both of us. We read, listened to music and laughed about the weird midnight talk the both of us had. Rikki woke me up by her sleeptalking the words Pood tham (repeat in thai), I replied pood tham and asked her how she is... Rikki replied Chan ron (I am hot in thai)... haha. I then proceded half asleep to explain the weird ass dream i had. It involved rikki and I starting a volunteer buisness and this girl who we didnt know could speak english writing a shirt essay to us explain how we have no idea what we are doing and how bad we are at life! bahaha.. The dream continued on with Lady (Rikki's dog) sitting beside a garbage can scoffing madarines with her paw.. Wow.. bahaha.
So we slowly came out of our english abode and found ourselves in the peace and quiet, with a beautiful breaky of donuts and coffee awaiting our hungry tummies. Just as we finished our last mouthful, eager students from the village came over to play and learn more english. We sat together and drew rainbows, trees, clouds, butterflys and learnt all the colours of the rainbow. We used the morning to construct and organise our lesson plans for the proceeding week. Transport, Shopping and colours are on the agenda. A bike ride was next. Back to Ahong temple to burn off those donuts and rice from the day before. This time zero came along with us as it is impossible to get a thai speaking dog to stay. We enjoy the fresh air and the beautiful scenery along the way.. Our pink princess bikes get many toots from passing cars. We look quite ridiculous.
We arrived home from Ahong temple with a very tired Zero and Fang joined us for lunch at the local noodle bar. For the 3 of us: Noodles with dog balls, not the best papaya salad, sticky rice, a big bottle of pepsi all for 95 baht ($3.5).. Im Ka (I am full).. Next stop the local 'beauty salon' (a big mirror and seats with their beds and lunge room all in one). It was so cute. Rikki got her toes pedecured and painted black, and I got both a mani and a pedi and bright pink nails and all for 100 baht ($3.50). BARGIN.
Back home with an icecream in hand, the family are all home again. In the late afternoon we helped Pee Pok get ready for dinner. Tonight we were going to try a tradition thai BBQ called Pan. We wrapped fresh fish in banana leaves, made a sweet egg-like soup, cut up fresh vege's and picked fresh herbs from the garden. Rik, Fang and I scooted off of the pink moped to find some Dang Moore (watermelon) we literally just got by random houses and ask for water melon.. Very community minded around here. Begore returning home we stopped at Fangs Aunts house (Our fam's old house) and picked up a pot of soup. It was my job to carry the precious boiling cargo home whist sitting on the back of the moped. hHahah what a sight.. we were zooming through the village with me squeeling for dear life trying not to spill any soup as we went over bumps. Bahaha What a site. This is definately one thing i will never forget! So back home with the soup we set up the mat outside.. A beautiful night, being nearly full moon we gathered around and pok and pho taught us how to eat the pan. I would say it is cross between buritoes, vietnamese spring rolls and that chience dish where you put a meat mixture into lettuce cups.. So it went like this.. Get a lettuce cup, put some vermicilli in it, add fish, tomato, lime soaked banana root, mint, corriander, and the sweet egg soup.. the challenge: fit it all into your mouth and CHEW! Absolutly delicious! i have asked for the recipe to bring home :) mum you would love.
Not bed time without a late night english lesson with Pee Hongs nieces and nephews... We were pretty tired thus pretty slack with the lesson and bassically blayed bingo and cards for and hour. Bed at 9:30.
Good night...
