The last few days have been SOOOO GOOD!
In terms of our dive training KAty and I assisted with our first openwater student from the beginning. Which means classroom presentations, pool pressentations then actually getting on the longtail heading to a local reef (koh nyak) and helping with the first openwater dive! The OW trainee is a danish guy call ishan who we found out had nver used fins before... so i think that sets the scene... not to comfortable in the water! Anyway its been a really good learning curve for us both. not everyone can swim, not everyone can float. But today was the day we headed to koh nyak with ishan to complete his 2 first openwater dives... and he did REALLY WELL! we expected him to be very nervous and not be able to get down to 8m! but he was straight down to the bottom... completed his skills perfectly and just enjoyed himself so much! I got the biggest buzz when i saw his eyes light up when he saw a lionfish for the first time! SOOO GOOD! i was impressed with the huge school of squid swimming above us.. Finished this afternoon with a classroom session with ishan.. follwed by a lecture and an exam on equipment with diego!
So on the social front... we went out to mexian the other night at bungyung at a place called the rusty pelican! good food, good company... followed by a long night at the snapper then onto the monkey bar! just what i needed!!
the following night we went back into bungyung and ate indian this time and drank red wine! YUM! once again.. followed by a dance at happy snapper! im really getting to know the town now.. im meeting some really cool people and it feel like home.. its sade that im leaving in 3 weeeks! not ready to go at all!
yesterday afternoon Diego picked me up on his motorbike on my walk home and we headed down past bungyung to a random dirt track trying to find a new beach that we hadnt been to before! After hectic manouvering through the sand we came out at a contruction site of a huge resort which was surrounded by this river thing.. anyway we had to ditch the bike and walk accross this skinny long to get through to the beach! EXPLORERS! anyway we spent the afternoon swimming at the beach, watching the sunset!! perfect afterrnoon follwing a busy few days.
end note... im really enjoying it here! dont want to leave :(
