So Rik and I made it back from the Jungle.. ALIVE!

Over the last 4 days Rik and I headed from Semporna up to Sepilok and found a cute lil hippy retreat-like place called uncle tans.. about a 2km walk to the orangutan sanctuary! We stayed a night there and went and visited the orangutans one morning.... PISSING down rain.. the orangutans stayed in bed (as we should have done) and didnt end up come out to feed! so we stood there for 1/2 hr in our 5 ringit ponchos in the middle of a complete storm.. I could imagine the orangutans sitting in their warm tree nests watching us... laughing and thinking we are crazy!

oh well... That afternoon we jumped in a ute and headed north for an 1.5 hrs to the Kinabatangan river.. where we hopped in a boat and travelled upstreat for around 40 minutes... along the river we saw our first wild orangutan, crocs, borneo hornbill, and beautiful kingfishers!! We arrived at our camp which we stayed at for 2 nights!

SUch a beautiful place.. lil shacks on stilts with no door, mats on the floor and mosquito nets.. board walks connecting the lil village weaving around the jungle. Pics will do a better job explaining.

Anyhow our days consisted of jungle treks, boat adventures, singalong time with the locals, soccer and sleep! Lots of fun! lots of mud... gumboots and ponchos are AMAZING!

We spent australia day in the jungle.. With zero beer, zero cigaretts..chilling with the locals, drinking rice wine at 7 ringit a bottle ($2.5) and coke, singing and playing the guitar! AWESOME FUN! great crew. Pouring down rain.. in the middle on the borneo jungle... HAPPY f***ING AUSTRALIA DAY! hahaha. Did I mention that all of the above was done in torch light (due to a power cut).

Now we are back to uncle tans.. about to board the bus back to KK! no long until the zoo.. im getting pumped!
