We drove through the edge of the Flinders Ranges today and through quintessential Aussie towns such as Wilmington, Orroroo and Peterborough, all with wide dusty main streets and
lovely loo's (decorated by the CWA). Then we arrived in Terowie which is the ghost town where Philip, Geoffs cousin, has a small house in pretty original 1900 condition. In an act of perfect timing Philip and his two boys Lachie and Oliver and Geoff's Aunty Jan were all visiting for the school holidays. We parked the camper in Philips yard and then went off to a nearby property to shoot feral goats - yep. Once the guys shot one, Philip proceeded to cut it up and give the kids an anatomy lesson - with special attention given to the hip and knee joints. It is great to watch the kids taking in all this stuff, they are just loving it and it is great bonding time with their second cousins. Over dinner Philip told stories about the ghost that he and 2 other visitors have all seen in the house (yikes!).
