Still in Kakadu, we got up early to join a ranger walk and talk at 8am. It went for about an hour and a half and was very interesting, all about the geology and flora of the area. Geoff decided we wouldn't enter Kakadu on the regular highway, but rather via a 4wd track, the old Jim Jim Road. Turned out to be a good move as we came across a very picturesque billabong where we stopped and had lunch, although I had one eye on the river the whole time in case a croc was also feeling like lunch. We left "Darwin's best camping ground" this afternoon. Thanks for having us Polly and Iain. We drove to Corroboree Billabong which is en route to Kakadu and did a sunset cruise on the Billabong which was teaming with territory wildlife. We saw about 15 crocodiles both freshies and salties and plenty of bird life. The light in the sky at that time of day made the whole scene look magical. Cecil was booked in for his 12,000 km service today so whilst Cecil was getting a grease and oil change we caught up with Nick, Shirley, Caitlin and Jess (the OBG's) our friends from Willoughby Public School. Was great to see them and hear about their adventures so far. We spent the day at Darwin Wave Pool which all the kids loved but sorry to say its not a patch on Sydney beaches.
