Mum, Dad and I went snorkeling in Ras Mohamed National Park today. We got picked up at 8:10am and spent about two hours picking up other people and getting a flat tyre. Typical Egyptians. We then had to go through the same chaos as I had with Tim and Fiona to get on the boat, but once we were on there it was smooth sailing. I can't believe I put myself through that crap twice!
We went out to the first site and followed the guide around, Mum seemed fine snorkeling off the boat and she and Dad were enjoying it. When we got back on the boat the Captain lit up a cigarette and Mum threw up over the side, feeding the fish. She couldn't do the next dive.
Dad and I had a go at the next dive and I saw a really big fish. It was a bit deeper here and the reef was a little more colourful. We had lunch after this and the guide told me he was impressed by the way I could dive under the water and take pictures of the fish and asked me if I had done any diving.
The third dive, we just an hour free time, the guide pointed out a stone fish to me and tool me over the reef, to show me which corals I could touch. It was really good until something underneath me decided it didn't like me and I stung my arm! It only hurt for a little bit and I've got some bumps under my elbow, nice war wound for the day.
I took off my mask and flippers and just floated in the Red Sea for a bit, the colour of the water and the temperature were perfect, not to mention, that because of the high salt content you barely need to make an effort to stay afloat. The Red Sea is definitely my favourite place to swim. Some other people on board we attempting to jump from a high place on the boat and one girl couldn't do it. Everyone else was wavering and seemed a bit scared to do it. I got out of the water and climbed up to the spot and dived straight in from the top of the boat. Still got it, I thought to myself. Glad I can still be fearless.
I got back on the boat and we headed back to Na'ama Bay, I thanked our guide for a really good day and got in the packed transfer bus back to the hotel.
