After shopping Tuesday morning we headed east on the Gibb River Road. Just drove a couple hundred kilometers and camped on the side of the road at Yammera Gap. Saturday evening we went to what they called a Marsharts event. It was held out on what they call marshes but I would call dry mud flats. These really flat dry cracked mud flats go on for miles. Anyway they had a very large screen mounted on a sea container out on the flats and showed a series of short movies later in the evening. Went for a walk just after day break. Circumnavigated the quarry, it's quite a way around but very picturesque with the Boabs and hills surrounding the water in the quarry. Climbed up one of the rock faces and found a very substantial cave system. I was impressed by how shiny some of the spots were where people had probably been going through for thousands of years. After a good night we drove through to Fitzroy Crossing this morning. Straight to the information centre then across the single lane bridge over the river and up river to the old causeway crossing. The crossing is closed as the water is too high and the track down to it is washed away. As no one was around we had a bath and washed our hair. Packed up this morning and continued our drive along the road that was following the Fitzroy river. Came to the Fitzroy weir where there were a number of campers and fishermen. Watched a bloke with a lure reel in one after another, different fish that looked about 30cms, he was throwing them back.
