Last night we explored our surroundings around the city centre and down to the river in kampot. It's a lot smaller than we thought and you can walk around the main streets and get down to the river in about 10 minutes. We had heard of a place called Ta Ouv that offered cheap and tastey food. It's a cool place down on the river that is on stilts and raised above the Teuk Chhou River giving a great view of the bridges that cross it whilst the whole place is lit up with multi coloured fairy lights. Unfortunatly we couldn't get a river side seat as the place was busy mainly with locals which is always a great sign of great food. Ashleigh was starving and finished her plate within a few minutes....then mine. All dishes were $4 a piece and great value for what we got. The walk back to the digs was a bit scary as there are loads of stray dogs kicking about that always give a growl or a woof as you walk past on the dimly lit streets but they dont go near you if you keep out of there way.
This morning we moved up river to Bodhi Villa, an amazing place that cost $5 a night. What a place. You walk through a temple like entrance to reveal an open shack built onto the back of the building with a jetty into Teuk Chhou River. There are four or five bungalows and also around four private rooms. This place always seems to be fully booked by word of mouth. We have two nights booked for now but have already asked about staying for a week it's that good. We have spent most of today sitting on the jetty in the sun chatting with the super friendly residents and swimming in the river. Looks like we might be here some time as it's so laid back that you feel a part of the place straight away. So if you dont hear anything from us for the next few days it's becasue we are far to busy doing nothing whilst letting the sun kiss our skin from a sickly white to a healthy looking brown (or in my case pink!) If we get up to anything we will keep you posted but the only thing we have planned for the next few days is hiring some bicycle's and riding around like we are something out of the famous five with lashings of Ginger Beer!

Oxley Sounds divine! If your planning on staying there a while, why not gain extra revenue by capturing wild dogs daily and selling them to local restaurant owners!! Only joking, I'll be thinking of you during my 12 hour shift today........
