Pete and Lou's Big Adventure
We have just got back from our tour of the Grampians and The Great Ocean Road - absolutely amazing!!
Our first day was spent hiking up hollow mountain in the middle of the Grampians National Park. This region has scenic woodland walks and rugged rock formations! To say that we weren't tired is abit of an understatement but the views from the top were absolutely amazing! I think it's one of those things that neither one of us imagined doing before before we got here.
From there we went to McKenzie Falls - after the hike we thought this may of been a leisurely stroll - we were wrong. The way down was fine, it was the steep climb back up which was the problem.
The following day we started off on another walk - killer on the legs but again so worth it. We then began our tour of the Great Ocean Road which is split into the shipwreck coast and the surfers coast. Here we saw so many amazing sights - to many too mention. The views were absolutely breathtaking (not sure if any of our photos will do this place justice). We watched the sunset over the 12 Apostles and watched penguins race up and down the beach! Brillant! That night we stayed in a hostel in a town which consisted of a pub, shop and 2 hostels! We shared a room with two American brothers - Garth and Conner. We all joined a party on the balcony and with not getting in til late and Conner's snoring we didnt get much sleep!
The destination for the following day was the Melbourne end of the Great Ocean Road. We visited Apollo Bay, the town of Lorne and Bells Beach. We also stopped at a place known for koalas and, no joke, there was a koala in evey tree!!!! Lou was in her element. After a brief shopping stop in Torquay - home to Quiksilver and Ripcurl - we made our way back to Melbourne!
We now have 5 days of chilling out in Melbourne before we head off to Phillip Island for 4 days. Tomorrow we are meeting up with Lester and Erica for dinner and a few drinkies! :o)
Hope all is well back home! Has it snowed yet??
All our love, Lou and Pete. xxxx
