We left Darwin with mixed emotions - we werent looking forward to the journey to Alice Springs but we were excited to experience the outback/red centre and see what all the fuss is about. The outback is vast, so serial but fantastically amazing. For me, its like the ocean, and the stars - i never really get tired of looking at it. Although they never appear to change they look so different every time you look. Its hard to explain but these natural phonomenon...

A big hello from the hot and humid Darwin. We arrived in the evening here and our first impression was that it was a pretty coll place. The hostel was nice and spotless, which is always a bonus. Cool is not a word you would have caught using the next day when we went to the Museum and Art Gallery of the NT. Not only was it a scorcher it was very humid - which made for a sweaty walk........so we got the bus. The galery itsself was quite fantastic - the normal stuf...

We arrived in Katherine at about lunch time. After dumping our bags we headed to Woolies for some food. Pete loves this place for the cheap cakes! We then had a well earned dip in the hostel pool. We also booked onto a walk through the gorge, "Not too hot if we do it in the morning say at 8" haha (!) It hit 40 degrees up on the gorge on our walk. What a fab idea. Well done Lou! A nice deep in the rockpool at the bottom of a waterfall made up for it abit i guess. ...

Hi Guys - Well we survived the first of our treks. Actually it wasnt too bad, not as bad as we were expecting. The first leg from Cairns to Townsville took us 6 hrs and went quite quick. Other than that there isnt much too tell. In townsville we waited a couple of hrs for our overnight connection to Mt Isa. The bus for this trip was thankfully quiet and we could spread out and get some sleep. On our way through the nothingness of the outback we watched the stars ...
