Pete and Lou's Big Adventure
A big Bula from the fantastic Fiji.
Guys if you ever get the chance - come to Fiji! It is without doubt -PARADISE! We dont want too leave. The people here are so friendly - not fake friendly (think american) but genuinly interested in you and your experience in Fiji. The figians go out of their way to make you fell welcome and make sure you are having a good time.
We boared the plane in Brisbane, feeling alittle sad from the previous days goodbyes to my family but excited at the vey prospect of visitng such a beautiful country. We were seated, strapped in and moving away from the airport when there was this almightly CRASH!! It shook the whole plane and the stewards who were in the middle of their safety demo fell over. Errrrr not good!!!
After numerous anouncements from the captain telling us that an inspection of the plane was being carried out we were told to disembark!!
While i was quite happy to getting off this now somewhat dodgy plane, pete was less than impressed. He soon cheered up though when the free meal vouchers were being handed out! A couple of hrs later we re-boarded and head to fiji and our first stop the coral coast.
We awoke the next morning to the sun, palms and numerous figians shouting BULA from every direction. We headed straight for the beach and wow it was beautiful. Palm fringed, white sand and crystal waters! Now the name may of given it away somewhat but we were amazed to seecoral literallly inches from the waters edge. You didnt given have to enter the water to the fish, coral, shells etc as they were everywhere and the water was so clear you could them from the beach! WOW! We heard a Bula from the distance, there was a fisherman about 200m out walking out in the ocean with his net - fishing! From that point on we knew this was going to the best 10 days!
Now, think celebrity love island, thinkthe bounty advert, think the film casterway and you have the mamanuca islands of Fiji. They are stunning! Here we spent most of our time snokelling (no sharks or jelly fish too worry about here) and relaxing on the pristene white sandy beaches. PERFECT!
The Yasawa Islands are alittle more remote, a little more rugged and volcanic but just as gorgeoous. Here we snokelled, relaxed on the beach - hey it is fiji time! The highlight thou was visting a traditional village and school where ancient customs are practised day in day out! You even have to ask the chiefs permission to enter!
On the down side for us we cannot show you any photosof our time here asour camera for some reason decided only to take white photos with some black outlines! It is working now but who knows for how long!
Anyway all in all Fiji has been the best experience - we only wish we could of stayed longer. We recommend anyone with the oppotunity to come here. . We will hopefully be back someday - im sure of it!
Next stop NZ.
Miss you all.
