Day 90. We left Esperance at 7.30am for our long haul up to Kalgoorlie driving through some scenic salmon gum (Eucalyptus salmonophloia) woodlands and rising to over 300m elevation with a strong crosswind. Day 89. Awoke to a fine, sunny day of 24 degrees so we packed a picnic lunch and headed off to Cape Le Grand National Park. We were amazed at the beauty of the Cape, the wildflowers, brilliant white sandy beaches and rocky outcrops and peaks. Thistle Bay a real gem followed by Lucky Bay where we walked along the beach, then very long Rossiter Bay and finally Hellfire Bay where we had lunch and spent time walking on the pristine white beach and climbing the rocks...

Day 88. Pancakes in our van for breakfast and then we set off to Esperance via a shortcut along Jerdacuttup Road. So many beautiful new wildflowers we just had to stop several times to explore and take photos. The sweet smell of the canola crops wafted through the air together with the wildflowers perfume. Day 87. We took the Chester Pass Road out of Albany early today for the drive through the magnificent Stirling Ranges National Park which has been on our horizon for the past few days. The whole range was covered in heath-like wildflowers and the 1095m Bluff Knoll stood out. Day 86. A lazy day exploring Albany and the nearby Torndirrup National Park. In the morning we toured the National Anzac Centre for a very personal and moving account of the Anzac legend. Also the Convoy Walk showing the details and photos of the ships which anchored in the King George Sound in 1914 before departing with over 41,000 troops to Gallipoli, Palestine and the Western Front.
