Day 19. A short drive out to the site of the old Elsey Homestead and the memorial cemetery where so many of Jeannie Gunn's local characters are buried from her famous 1908 novel 'We of the Never Never' depicting the harsh life in the outback. Raechel later bought the DVD of the 1982 movie for us to watch tonight. Morning tea at Stockyard Gallery and quick visit to the Barra feeding. Afternoon spent at nearby Bitter Springs floating down the Little Roper River on our colourful 'noodles'. Water temperature a comfortable 34 degrees, it was so good we did not want to leave! Paradise! Dinner tonight again at the lively Matuka Bar and Restaurant at the Homestead - roast lamb and salt and pepper squid. Loving this warm weather 31 degrees today, heard it was minus 6 in Canberra!
