Did we catch the boat?
The train journey was long and these two chinese women where jabbering on getting louder and louder. It got to 2 am and they shut up, by that time we thought we were arriving in luxor for 5 so there was no point in getting any sleep. Everytime the train stopped copey jumped up thinking it was our stop. You couldnt see out of the window as both the inside and out haddent been cleaned for ages.
A guy wandered down the train at 6:30 saying luxor, luxor. We grabbed out bags and got off the train hoping the guy was there with ians name on a board. We walked the full length of the platform no guy, we were not sure on what the hell to do so we went down the stairs and managed to find him on the way out. Phew!! Copey was telling the guy what a cougar was as the guide was saying that theres a load of older women with money marrying young egyptian men. We jumped in a car having no sleep and it turns out we were heading straight out on a trip to the east and west bank of the nile. We were both knackered. We got into a minivan of people, turns out one was from iraq the other lot italians and a columbian guy, if security pulled us over they may of thought that we were being smuggled in!
Our guide was called moustafa, he took us to the valley of the kings and queens, giving us a brief examination as he put it. We then went to an alabasta shop and the hard sell came again, the guy could tell me and copey looked fooked so didnt bother us, he pestered the italians who bought everything nearly. Now on the way out of all the places they purposely build shops so you have to walk by and they pester the hell out of you. I managed to get by, but copey always gets pestered too much as he looks at the object. I on the other hand say no thank you and ignore them, this works great if you want anything as they went from £9 egp for one statue to £2 for three statues. Knowing i dont need any i said even if you gave them to me for free i still wouldnt have them! Seemed to get the hint then and pestered someone else.
We did a few more tombs and then we got driven to the boat, it did exist and to our relief it was a thomas cook one called m/s semiramis 2. The room was impressive we had until 3 to get checked in, grab lunch and get out again. I grabbed a shower i hadnt had one since sharm, 4 days earlier now. I didnt smell just quietly hummed. We got picked up by the same guys and headed out to the east bank to see the karnak temple. The biggest in the world and then to luxor temple. Karnak was highly impressive loved every bit of it even the dodgy guards again. It was by far the best place to visit so luxor temple was a bit of a let down, but was good. They had built unknowingly a mosc on top of the temple? How do you not know a temple this big is here i dont know! We gave the guide and driver a tip and we got sent back to the boat for the night.
We got into the room not knowing what was planned for us, were drinks free? Well turns out they werent i asked about all inclusive and it was 17gbp pppn so as it was copeys birthday i payed for it as a present, i ended up paying with 3 currencies, sterling, euros and egyptian pounds, definetly confusing. We hit the bar and made sure we drank over our £17 at £3.60 a pint it didnt take long. We played pool for an hour and i can proudly say that i beat copey, i should of let him win as it was his birthday after all but f*** it, its about time i beat him at something.
