Aswan dam and abu simble
We got woken up at 2:45 from the phone call we both rushed up and get ready to leave, the boat had made us a takeaway breakfast which was good. It had loads in it and i had enough for lunch too. A guy met us at 3:30 am and took us to a van that had an american guy with a beard already in, we got in the bus expecting just us but we pulled up a but further down the road and a load of girls got in with a cockney guy. We hit the road to abu simble in the minivan, it was roasting even at 5am in the morning, i dont think the aircon was working it was horrible.
When we finally arrived at abu simble we went in and explored the temples, it was by far the best place to see in egypt. There was too large temples with bit statues on the front. Inside there was aload of hieroglyphs, it was awesome. We wandered back to the bus at 9:45 am as he said but it wasnt there, we didnt know what to do, so we ended up chatting to the american guy who agreed with us that egypt was such a hassle but a beautiful place to visit, he had just been peru and couldnt believe how much he got pestered here. The van finally came and we had a 3 hour journey back to the boat, everyone just slept.
No sooner had we got back to the boat we got rushed away with our bags to a hotel to start the aswan tour. The bus was full of americans and we had an english speaking tour guide, who allways starting a sentence with now my friends.... We went to aswan dam and then to phalae island. The island was only accessible by boat, it was sailed by a lad no older than 12, the engine sounded like it had done some work in its time but it got us there ok. We walked around while the tour guide talked about the places then he left us to wander ourselves. After 20 minutes we met at a cafe and got talking to an american girl, she was over here on holiday but was studying in denmark before returning to the states. Copey asked her about denmark and she said it was ok but it was cold and the people were a little racist in her opinion. We then boarded the coach back to the hotel.
We were at the hotel and didnt have a clue what time we were getting the train back to cairo. Our guide finaly turned up at 7pm saying we were on the 8pm train. He walked us to the train stop which was round the corner and showed us to our seats. We were supposed to be in 1st class like on the way down, but we were definetly not, we were in second with the locals, we didnt feel safe so slept hugging our bags hoping the 13 hour train journey would go quickly.
