Back to Bangkok and I must say your opinion of this place changes so much after travelling around Vietnam and Cambodia. While Bangkok is a big, busy city it certainly isn't as dirty and disgusting as people would lead you to believe. In comparison to Cambodia it's a clean place and I'm yet to see any rats on my travels! (I'm saying that while looking around to make sure I'm not jinxing myself)
Anyway we arrived in Bangkok and its definitely less humid here which is a good thing and we are back to being able to breath again. I wouldn't say fresh air but its pretty good.
Our Bangkok hostel is very conveniently positioned right beside Khoa San road which will be very handy for walking home BUT and that's a BIG BUT... Our hostel is an absolute kip! So far on our trip we've been very lucky with accommodation but this one takes the biscuit. Paint coming off the walls, holes in the walls with glory hole written over it, the toilet spews when flushed and the mattresses are leather covered and just as hard as a saddle of a bicycle. The only consolation is at least we know the mattress is cleanable and I'm hoping that it has been at some stage!
Got a little dolled up and made our way to the Sky Bar where the Hangover was filmed. Two of us were stopped because we were wearing flip flops but if you're wearing sandals you're sorted and allowed straight up. We did a shoe swap which meant we all got to see it but in twos.
The view from here was nothing but amazing! When on the roof you can really see just how big Bangkok is. Claire bought a bottle of Corona and it cost a massive 450 THB. Not somewhere that you'd drink too much or you would need to find a very rich sugar daddy! We thought it best to make our way back to Khao San rd where I was buying my Tiger beers for 34 out of the 7/11 shops! Got back to the hostel in the little hours of the morning and we could still hear everything coming from the street. I don't think ill be doing much sleeping here.
Up bright and early, with a few having a little bit of a sore head. We booked our flights to Phuket and then saw a few of the sites. We then took a long boat around the canal which was a fab way to see the city. We've also booked our flights and accommodation for the islands where we'll be spending the next two weeks!!
Let the island hopping commence!
