Three rides out today. Started off pretty quiet as some fences needed repairing. I went to find my boots and hat to help and missed the truck on the way out - so I decided to take Maddie a standardbred for a ride. Then some guests and Netty decided to join me. Another beautiful sunny day in the Kimberly. Saddled up the horses and we headed to the yards to work the cattle, I was back on the reliable Pluto. After pushing them around for a wee bit, we brought the the cows and calves out of the yards and into the wings. They remained settled so we made the call to take them to the north paddock. A very relaxing start to the day, no rides this morning. So I managed to convince Brom to help me make a stockwhip. The thong was the easy part, plaiting the handle a whole nother level... we kept changing patterns in it, which was too much for my little brain! Still I managed to finish the plait and make the knobbly bit at the end. Will finish it off tomorrow (I think). Have to make both ends and then attach the thong to the handle. 5:30 start, had breakfast and out on the horses by 7. We went to the rapids - I guess they are rapids in the wet, but for now there was no flowing water. Got up and tried taking some sunrise photos, only I had to be back for a 6am breakfast with the guests. Rode Pluto this morning, neat little horse he is, went down by the King river as it was so still and temperatures were climbing. Got back and then moved a pump from one dam to the the next - had to fill up the water tank by the cattle yards as the mob will be trucked in tomorrow.
