We caught the metro into Paris this morning. We went to the Parthénon first but decided not to actually go inside as we have seen a lot of museums now. Then we walked to the Cite which is an island in the middle of the River Seine joined to the mainland by bridges. It isn't far from with bank of the river. We watched Firefighters snorkeling in the Seine but do not know what they were looking for. After a late morning tea we walked several kms to Bon Marche which is Paris oldest department store. We didn't buy anything though. Then we walked to the Eiffel Tower as we had tickets for the 4:30om time slot. The ticket meant we didn't have to line up but the reality is that there is still quite a lot of queuing to be done. We had our water taken off us and our bags scanned before entering. Security is very high here. The Tower is really large and was interesting inside. The view was fabulous. The Arche de Triumph wasn't far away so that and the ChampsElysse were our final destinations for the day. On the way back to our apartment there were warnings on the board about another problem with baggage on another of the metro lines. Fortunately not our tram.
