We caught the tram to Vincennes Wood this morning which is the largest park in Paris. The went to get on the tram we were told we couldn't get on it. We didn't understand what they were telling us until a man who spoke English told us there was suspicious baggage on board and the tram was bring evacuated. We had to walk another two stops to get another tram. There was a large lake with row boats for hire so we hired one for an hour and took turns rowing around it. Good fun! We thought about hiring bikes from one of the many hire spots but the deposit of €200 per bike put me off so we walked instead. We ate our lunch in the park before catching a metro to the Marie Pasteur Museum. The museum was small but very interesting. A good size museum. From there we walked to the Luxembourg Gardens. The gardens are beautiful and very well maintained. Like all the gardens we have visited in Paris they were full of people using the space. We have been lucky with the weather in Paris as it has been fine and hot. A short time after returning to our apartment I noticed police outside our window (we are on the second floor) and people being directed away from a bus that was abandoned on the road. There were armed police everywhere. Eventually a man went up to bus and a suitcase was removed. It turned out to be empty. Phew! We are not sure if the man who removed the suitcase was the owner as he wasn't wearing any official uniform and he went alone to the bus. So we have surmised that perhaps he accidentally left the suitcase on the bus and when he contacted the company to get it back he found out the stir created!! Buses were held up for about an hour. Obviously not an unusual occurrence for Paris!
