Our Global Gallivants
It's another nice beach day. We went to Honeymoon Island State Park today. Honeymoon Island and Caldesi Island to the south were originally part of a barrier island. They were split into 2 parts in 1921 by a hurricane that created Hurricane Pass. They still call Caldesi Island an island even though Hurricane Elena filled in Dunedin Pass in 1985. Now you can walk there from Clearwater Beach.
The first thing we saw when we arrived was a couple of guys fishing. They caught a fish that they said was a Sheepshead fish. Later, we saw them catch another one. Maybe we were their good luck charm. :)
Here's a YouTube link to a quick, but interesting video on this fish. Apparently they can grow up to 30" in length, but are usually 10-20".

The second thing we saw was a pod of dolphins swimming back and forth.
There's also a lot of seashells on the beach. Despite that, there are large areas of very nice sand. It was windy today, but we backed our chair into a sheltered area and enjoyed the day.
Mmmm, barbecued steak for dinner.
