So today we headed to the Great Ocean Road (GOR).
We had plenty of time so first we thought we would explore a little of the shipwreck coast and stopped off in the quaint fishing town of Port Fairy, where we walked around a small island and saw the lighthouse and some rare birds. It's a lot cooler here at the coast so much more pleasant for walks.
Next up we headed to Cheese world. We missed the tasting but Kyle had one of their famous milkshakes and we brought some obligatory Brie (yum yum).
Then we actually hit GOR, we were warned by the hostel owner at Mt Gambier that it will be heaving with as he put it 'oldies and Asians' he wasn't wrong.
Our first stop was the Bay of Island, which is basically rocks in the middle of the ocean. Next we went to the Bay of Martyrs but Kyle refused to get out of the car here as he said it was still the same view as previously.
We also went to the arch and the grotto and visited one of the most famous sites on the GOR the London Bridge (which you can see in the picture). This was originally attached to the land but in 1990 the bridge collapsed leaving two very frightened tourists on the wrong side.
The GOR had some fantastic scenery all along it and I think I was driving Kyle mad by making him stopped every few hundred meters so I could take pictures.
This evening we are staying in Port Campbell, a very cute seaside village where we watched the sunset at the beach.
However the hostels bathroom facilities are a little strange as they are actually in the corridor and I tell you, you can hear everything!!!
Love
