Happy Christmas!!! I know you think we are laid around sunning ourselves and chilling every day, reading books, snorkeling and a tiny bit of exploring too most of the time. Up to now we've barely had a full day doing this but these past 2 weeks on Lanta have been bliss. It's been a holiday from the constant pack up, travel, unpack, explore which is great fun but actually pretty tiring.

Before arriving on koh Lanta we quickly popped to railay beach to check out what Christmas would be like over there but decided paradise Lanta was more of a holiday destination.

After attempting to meet up with a teaching friend of Bryn's, Gaz and his girlfriend Alex, Christmas on Lanta was finally that time. We'd shared many Skype videos during our trips and seeing them in the flesh was pretty exciting. On Christmas day Tim and Nikki arrived! My brother and his fiancée got engaged while I was away so it was great to finally give them congratulatory hugs. Their engagement present from us was a Thai massage on the beach which was repaid to us for our Christmas present, so after a day exploring the island by moped and slithering through scary spider and bat infested caves we redeemed our alternative therapies. Amazing.

Christmas dinner was delicious but nothing like Christmas day normally tastes like! We definitely went for a Thai Christmas... Green curries, massaman curries, fried rice, thai fusion stirfries and pad Thais sloshed down with a few Changs and vodka oranges for all 6 of us. Although not quite a roaring fire in the living room whilst playing games or watching christmas films, we changed tradition and went for a camp fire on a deserted beach and set off fireworks!
