Another last minute change of plans on where to go and we found ourselves looking for beach bungalows on Koh Payam. It was a gorgeously quiet slice of heaven with pretty few other travellers for a change!
Days spent on the island involved plenty of sun and therefore sunbathing (our 1st proper opportunity since being in Asia I think), reading books (yep even me!), swimming lengths of the beach (real exercise is pretty rare out here), snorkeling and shell hunting. We met a very chatty Dutch couple at our bungalows too, who were travelling with a 6 month old and a 3 year old. A lot of admiration for them travelling with young children, I really don't know how they manage! Maybe one day we'll get some tips off you Phil and Laura Nicholls!
We rented a moped on the island so we could collect fruit and other cheap breakfasts from the market. Madly trying to make ourselves under budget at the moment because we're planning on heading to Malaysia in the next week or two and its probably going to go over our daily budget. We allocated £40 between us originally but we've been aiming for £30 so that we can hopefully add Australia into the trip and do a bit of work out there. Sorry...waffling! Bryn is sound asleep next to me so chattering to you guys instead! ☺ We're jammed in the back seat of a mini bus with bags squeezed in every bit of floor space so Bryn's resolution to travel sickness is to sleep and take a tablet as soon as possible!
The day we left the island, 4 days after arriving, the rains started which was pretty great timing! Boat back to mainland, songtau (local bus) back to bus station and a decision on where next to go. The Krabi bus had already left so we decided on a night in Phuket and over to Koh Phi Phi for my birthday.
