Ol n' Ben around the world
Wake up at 9:30. We start packing our stuff before everybody gets up.
We have breakfast, pack the camp and prepare the kayaks in 1h45 : 45 min less than day 1 !
Weather is cloudy and windy. We board the kayaks rapidly facing the waves. We paddle towards Nansen glacier. We come very close to it (around 300 m) to enjoy the magnificent blue colours due to numerous calvings. We also met several icebergs.
When leaving Nansen bay, A. spotted what he thought was a seal, but turned to be a polar bear ! He is very big, sniffing the air. We just have time to take a few pictures when he disappears below sea level. Coming to us ? No hesitation: we leave asap. Polar bears can swim at 10 km/h, and are barely visible when swimming, so we'd better hurry :-) We finally reach the cape and escape Nansen bay. 30 minutes of stress, but in the end, pretty happy to see a polar bear on day 2 !
Bore bay is very quiet. We paddle close to the shore on a glassy sea, still keeping an eye on the shore in case our new friend shows up again ! We suddenly discover Bore glacier : it is very wide and majestic. We stop on an island facing the glacier to have lunch. The glacier is calving a lot during our stay.
After lunch, we paddle to the glacier front (250m) : it is quiet and very impressive.
On the way back, we weave across several gigantic icebergs whose shape and colours are beyond imagination.
Two glaciers in the same day, one polar bear : what a day !!
Still, the next campsite is not there yet. We have to paddle alot to exit Bore bay, reach the cape, and cross another bay to reach Boheman peninsula. Due to shallows, the approach of Boheman is difficult but we finally reach the shore, pretty exhausted.
The campsite is gorgeous though, with a gentle river, lots of moss and lichen.
Dinner is generous to reward the efforts of the day. The guide tells us the next day will be a rest day, as two persons begin to feel pain in their wrist...
I do the dishes tonight since I am the first one who guards the camp from midnight till 2am (in fact, at 2am, it is 6:30 !). The weather is fantastic : blue sky, sun... Two arctic foxes even come to say hello :-)

FIGURES OF THE DAY : 34,3km of kayak in 7h12 - Record !
