Day 175, 26 December 2012, Boxing Day - Tignes. Fresh snow overnight - easily 30 odd cm to add to the great snow already here. We spent the morning together exploring various lifts in the vicinity of the resort - which made it easy to nip back for a mid-morning coffee and a warm up. Cloudy skies with the sun peaking through in fits and starts eventually led to a brilliantly sunny day - though a big storm front is due through in the next day or so. Today's treat when we returned to the resort just prior to lunch was salmon freshly sliced and served on crusty baguettes with garlic mayonnaise. Slopeside of course. Gluhwein of course. We actually consider it an achievement to not be drinking until 12 noon (on Christmas day they were out with spray bottles of juniper liquor at 9 am ... just to warm people up before they hit the slopes!) More water torture for the sore calves - looking forward to a big day on the slopes tomorrow.... figure by the end of the week we'll be 100% ski fit and up to speed with the huge mountains and incredible altitude. 10 days rest in Scotland then off to the wilds of Bulgaria for a taste eastern bloc skiing in Bansko.
