Day 318, 18 May 2013, Port of Miami, Florida - Embarkation on "Carnival Liberty" for 7 days Exotic Western Caribbean cruise. What can we say, we got a deal. Mind you, if we win the US$612 million Florida Lottery tonight, we'll be doing this a bit more often!
Wow! The ship is huge - over 2500 passengers. Embarkation was, all things considered a breeze and we were very happy to find the stateroom was right in the centre of the ship... way down on Deck 1 - perfect for those of us who can get seasick in a choppy bathtub. Nice to have a window too - well worth the extra $50 odd. We explored the ship (did I mention it's huge?) We found the adults only swimming pool - yay! Peace and tranquility. We explored all the possible places to eat on a cruise ship (surprised there is room for sleeping actually...) We have come to the conclusion that aliens are real and they own cruise ships. People get on, get fattened up like Christmas turkeys for a week at a time and then alien replacements are sent back on the ship and the real humans are beamed into outer space! We dressed up for dinner in the fine dining area and enjoyed it immensely - though it did feel like we did a "dine and dash" when we wandered off without paying a bill. There was a show in the Venetian Palace theatre - which brought back all sorts of memories of Murano and Venice, Italy as the ship was built in Italy and full of fabulous Venetian glass. Bye Bye Miami... Hello Caribbean - all day at sea tomorrow to swim, sunbake (James) / hide in shade (me) and prepare for the week ahead.
