We left Opotiki (much to Mum's relief) then drove to Gisbourne. We had a quick look at the Captain Cook statue then carried on driving towards Napier. Once at Napier, Andrew went off in search of a golf course whilst Mum and I walked around the town looking at the Art Deco buildings. After a huge dinner, it was time for an early night.

After breakfast at the hostel we had a walk around some of the older parts of Rotorua. We then went to Whakarewarea thermal village where we saw a geyser and also watched another Maori performance. Then it was time to leave Rotorua and head for Whakatane. We didn't spend long in Whakatane itself but carried on to Opotiki where we were spending the night. There wasn't much to see or do in Opotiki, most places seemed to be closed including the cafes and restaur...
