Saturday
Today we went to the Aussie Rules at Melbourne Cricket Ground, total bargain at like $20 a ticket per adult. Also, Pat ran us down there and told us the rules which helped! Two other guys from the hostel also came along which was fun. Plus we sat with Pat's friend who screamed out in death metal style for the duration of the game. We saw Collingwood vs. Carlton, which was a good old rivalry, and made for a fairly energetic crowd, although the atmosphere was not a patch on sports matches back home. It was a good game to watch, lots of scoring etc. There were some brilliant bogans in the crowd, including a woman who ate for the entire duration of the match, and had crumbs all on her. Plus a woman with apples, who had a full on kitchen knife with her to peel them with - that would not happen back home that's for sure. Nik also had an added pleasure of when he went to the toilet, men using the urinal started chanting and clapping while taking a leak - genius. Weather was ok and it didn't rain and we even had an hour or so of sunshine where we were sat in t-shirts - and they call this winter!!
After the exertions of the day, we went back for a chilled out evening. Hannah made an excellent chick pea curry and we went to sleep nice and early. We even managed to not have duvet warfare during the night for once.
