24th August 2013.
Today Fliss and I left for New York City! After many emotional goodbyes (I think I thought I was crying for England that day!) we boarded the plane. Knowing how much I love my food everyone will understand how excited I was by the amount of food we were given on the 7.5 hour flight! We were given pretzels, then a meal, then a lemon cheesecake, then ice cream and then afternoon tea!
Once we had landed it took us from 4.30pm-8pm to get out of the airport! Fliss has prepared me for the grilling the custom men might give us but he ended up being pritty friendly asking us if we were bff's!
Well then there was the taxi ride! The taxi man didn't seem to know how to communicate just the odd grunt here and there...his driving was 'interesting' swerving in and out of cars and constantly using his tooter! Once he had arrived at everyone's hotel he didn't feel that he needed to announce exactly what hotel we were at, everyone just had to guess. Oh and when I say 'hotel' that applies to everyone else...we were rocking up to a hostel! But our hostel is lovely! On arriving the guy behind the check in desk, jumped and hid below the desk and stayed there for a while....I guess that's what's to be expected with Americans! Now is love to say that we hit New York and went and painted the town red, but actually after a quick fruit juice the ear plugs were in and the eye patch was on and we were fast asleep!
Waking up today is pritty exciting with a day of exploring New York ahead of us! :)
