On the 2nd September we packed up camp quite early and got on the road about 8. Today was an experience....it was Labour Day which meant that everyone had the off of work. There is another group doing the southern sun tour, their tour guide is called Aaron and he has family who live just outside New Orleans. So we went to his family's house for a BBQ! It was so surreal being in a locals house for lunch! There was 22 of us so it was pritty hectic but Aaron's aunt was lovely and seemed to love having us there. She laughed during every other sentence and her laugh was so loud the whole room would hear it! It was great! We ate lots and drunk sangria! We spoke to the family about the hurricanes that they get, they seemed very laid back about the fact that they usually have to redecorate every year/every other year due to the damage that the hurricanes cause!
From here we headed into New Orleans, we were staying in an apartment!! Yippee, which meant a real bed and no bugs!! :)
That evening we walked along Bourbon street which was awesome, they had live jazz bands in every bar, street acts and because it was labour day along with gay pride it was packed!! We tried jambalaya and then went to a karaoke bar where some of the girls including Fliss and I had to dance on stage!
We all had a 'grenade' drink which was pritty strong but was served in such a funky container! This evening we were all very mature and played a game called gheko, shark attack and grenade, when someone shouted gheko we had to splat ourselves against a wall (which we did in the restaurant), shark attack meant you had to get off the ground and grenade meant you had to duck down. We had a lot of fun doing this as well as a few funny looks!
