So we left nelson and headed back to kaiteriteri where i did the kayaking but this time i decided to do a walk through the abel tasman national park with a peruvian girl i had met in Nelson - it was quite a nice relaxing walk and not too strenuous at all. Once we finished the walk we had time left to swim in appletree bay before the water taxi picked us up - beautiful clear water! Got to westport and there was nada there so not much to report on that one. Next day headed to lake maninapua stopping at cape foulwind (closet point to oz - hence the name the driver told us!) and at punakaiki to see the pancake rocks. We stopped in greynouth to do some hunting and gathering to find a costume for tonights fancy dress party. The theme was what u wanted to be when u grow up - how crap was that!! So i decided that i didnt want to buy a costume as too expensive to i creatively made mine out of bins liners - couldnt think of what i wanted to be when i was younger apart - i changed my mind very week - nurse, doctor, lawyer, lollipop lady (the thought the posts where candy!!) actress, back to doctor, scientist - then realised i hated maths, actress again, pilot, airhostess, etc so in the end i thought the easiest costume would be a cheerleader - which i never wanted to be at all - oh well. So lake maninapua was nice - pretty much only one pub called the poo pub owned by 85 yr old les who has a pic of every kiwi bus that has gone thru his place in the last 16yrs. The party was ok, played some drinking games which i was s*** hot at - guess it was all that practice from "rhmney heights"! Had fun though! Went to bed about 1ish to a v thin mattress that sunk to the ground - wow what comfort!! Franz Josef tomo with the glacier - woohoo! love nikki xx
