Nikki's World Travels
kia-ora from Aotearoa! Hello from new zealand! Well i arrived here in christchurch on friday and so far really enjoying it here. It's alot like england in a way except the sun is shining!! So i have just been sorting out which tour im gonna do around the islands and ive decided on the kiwi experience. I hadnt realized that there is so much to do in the south island so glad i have the time to take it easy and enjoy it all instead of rushing form one place to the next.
So far, i have been to the antartica centre, the botanical gardens, the market, a beer garden and a flower fashion show at the cathedral!
The antartica centre was really good and i learned alot about the work that they do along with the americans and the italians in antartica - even tourists go there so im thinking that could be my next trip! We went into one room (we is me and vicky as she flew into christchurch the day after me so have been catching up but i start the tour tomo while she waits here for a friend coming over) and experienced -18degree wind - it was bloody freezing - luckily they give you a coat and you're only in there for like 3minutes. We also did this ride ina truck like thing which is used over in the antartica which is impossible to tip and can go under water and float and steered too. V cool ride!
This morning we went to a flower fashion show - it sounds kinda weird but it was beautiful. We heard about it from some people in vicky's dorm who came with us too. The whole aisle of the cathedral was covered in flowers and the dancers but on a show wearing flower costumes. They were made to look like flowers and had massive hand made tulips etc on their heads and on the actual costume itself. We couldnt take pics of the show which is a shame as it was totally different and amazing.
So that has been my time pretty much here in christchurch - lots of beer gardens around so kazzy you would love it here!! I head north tomo to Kaikoura where the dolphins are -woohoo!!
love me
xx
