Carisa Goes Abroad
Ireland is a very beautiful country, but after awhile there is only so much hills and sheep you can see. Today we drove to Dingle for some sightseeing. This involved some more of those fun little country roads! The people around here drive like nuts on those little small roads that can barely fit two lanes of traffic. Then you have to deal with the tour buses driving down the center for the road because they can't fit. Very scary at times.
Along the way, we stopped at Inch and got out on the beach. It was a little cold for swimming, but the kids had fun playing in the sand. It was strange to see the brown sand without shells. It was nothing like the Florida beaches!
Dingle is a small down on the Dingle Peninsula and it sits on the water. We had lunch and did a little bit of shopping (nothing too exciting). I used an ATM to withdrawal some Euros, kind of strange to see their money. After we got tired of Dingle, my group (Pat, Dave, Mike, Linda, and myself) drove to the Gallurus Oratory. This is an 8th century church that was built without mortar. It was very neat to see and amazing to look at how it was put together. The view in the area was amazing. After that we drove back to Beaufort and relaxed until dinner.
Dinner was at Kate Kearnes Cottage near the Gap of Dunloe. I had some more Irish stew and listened to some traditional Irish music complete with the Irish dancers!
