Set an alarm for 9:30 very hopefully, actually got up at 10:30, packed and checked out of our hotel. i was unsure about whether to hit up koh samui or koh Tao first, but have heard that koh samui has an excellent hospital, and sophie is still feeling ill after being sick the night before the full moon party. So decided to go there.
Got a taxi/bus thing to the ferry port an booked our tickets, only 200 (~£4) baht each, which I thought was very reasonable.
Got into koh Samui and hustled into a taxi, bit expensive, but as she's not feeling well I thought sophie would prefer the comfy ride and air con. Headed out to chaweng (I've been there before and loved it so though it wouldn't be a good place to go).
I'm getting very keen to rent a bike and explore the island with my pack, just stopping where and when I need to (no pre-booking hostels or anything). But we'll see whether that happens or not!!
Got into a very nice hostel and sophie crashed out, still feeling rough. I hunted down a day bag I carry beach stuff in then headed to the beach.
On the way was stopped by a random Thai guy who recognised me from the fire poi at the full moon!! Invited me for a drink later, but pretty sure he's gay so I'm staying well clear!!
Went to the beach and practiced poi (again!!) and little swim. Headed back to the hostel an met some guys (ben, ruben and others) and arranged to meet at 7:30 for some drinks.
Ended up with about 15-20 people, and headed to town, long walk for a kinda s***ty bar, but nice to chill with some new people.
