Round the World in 155 Days!
In a word Australia has been incredible, we ve had the most amazing time. The place really has exceeded our expectations. We originally thought we wouldnt stay for 2 1/2 months but the time has flown by. Theres just so much to see and do.
I was reading a Bill Bryson book on Australia where he said the people are outgoing and friendly, the sun always shines and the beer is always served cold. Old Bill has pretty much nailed it at that. The aussi's have been overly friendly, we ve had the longest, bluest, hottest summer/winter ever, and the beer is beautifully cold. The place is just so diverse, on the flight over we flew over oz for 3 hours and didnt see anything but red desert. But we ve experienced rolling green hills, grape vine country, open outback, rugged coastline, cities built around water, pristine beaches, islands, mountains, rainforests, and the great barrier reef and its all been incredible. We ve found its the lesser known places that arent filled with backackers that have impressed us the most, such as Lorne on the GOR, and swimming with Dolphins in Nelsons Bay. The well known places are good but they were always expected to be good, its the places we ve found by chance in the camper, unexpected gems.
Highlights of our time in Australia include, the welcoming aussi s and their "how you going" as hello, the best steak ever, the scenery which makes you stop the car too just look at it and go 'wow thats good', the great ocean road, great barrier reef, cold beer, the surfing (body), Basin Lake on Fraser, boosts and mcchickencrispy's, "nature" the wildlife koalas, snakes, dolphins, crocs, kangeroos, most fish ever and scary little creatures, sydney, hitting the road in the 'wicked' camper, the longest straighest roads ever seen, the bluest skies ever, the warm water, the beautiful sunsets and the amazing waterfalls and loads of other stuff.
But as many a wise person has said before nothing lasts forever. So on that note we head to New Zealand where we cant wait to start our next adventure. Australia is a special place and our times will always be remembered and we are a little sad to leave. Well until next time, No worries, too easy!
"You're young travelling the road, good times are to be had!"
