Round the World in 155 Days!
The rafting was amazing, quite scary. The waterfalls were 'lovely', israeli girls lame, but this old fella who was about 90 tried to do a pike pro dive off a rock, baring in mind that everyone was about 20 yrs old and just jumps in normally. He totally mistimed the dive though, and belly floped, it was legendary. I booked up a trip out to the great barrier reef so early next day head out onto the reef with Tusa Dive. An early start. Nicky doesnt come due to the number of fish expected which was quite wierd on my own. I decide to to a introductory dive which is well worth it. An amazing experience breathing under water and another world, see nemos, turtles and loads of different fish and coral. Do 2 dives - one in the morning then have big lunch and dive in the afternoon. An old guy called robert from US has a reef shark swim right underneath him, he took a great pic as well but apparently they are freindly. Im not entirely sure though, ive been out on a Saturday night in Gloucester where even the most calmest of people can snap go mental and attack someone, i mean there sharks, they eat people. Im well impressed though its an amazing place, do some snorkelling but it dosnt really compare to the underwater experience. Nicky isnt impressed by the fish photos though.
Fred and Ben return from their trip to Cape Tribulation, and for our last day in Oz book a cheap tour to Crystal Cascades which also stops at Trinity Beach where you have to swim in the stinger nets. If you get a stung by a stinger (jelly fish) you ve got 6 mins to live so im not sure. Crystal Casacdes is cascades and waterfalls in rainforest and is amazing, we walk on rocks up to a beautiful falls and swimming hole where the water is cold and very fresh, the boys jump in from the rocks. Its really nice on our last day to sit in the swimming hole, the sky is blue and the water crashes down to create a rainbow. Very Nice. Then head up to bigger cascades that forms a gorge and rock levels alongside which are used as jump platforms, the highest is 60 ft and looks very high, Fred (whos insane) does some crazy dives and somesaults into the water below and Ben lands a jump on his arse, everyone goes ooooooohhhhhhh and he aches for the next day. 'We' rock jump, some smaller jumps than others for the next hour, and then head back to the hostel. We have a meal and Liz and Lee turn up so we have some last night beers. We also buy some soverniers, Nicky gets a boomerang and i go to buy a didgeridoo but see a blow dart shooter like the one in malaysia, its awesome, its got really sharp darts with it and i make the purchase. Ive got plans for those darts and they involve a certain dog called Molly.. If Ben dosnt return it may be because we ve left him to take the dangerous weapon home so he maybe in jail some where in Australia or Asia, especially because he was talking about getting one himself. We met some girls who had their didgeridoos taken for being dangerous weapons, so goodluck to ben who will attend his return flight with two killer dart shooters, considering that he may be shot....sorry Smith family. Leave for Auckland next day with Jim from fraser and his dodgy passport.
