Cuzco - Day 59 - 27/11/2012 (Tuesday)
We now have a couple of days back in Cuzco before the tour continues. We had a bit of a late start after catching up on some much needed sleep. We went to the tourist market with Danielle and this time brought some things. It was already midday at this point so we went to an Irish bar for a quick drink to cool down. However can you see where this is going after 4 days of trekking in the heat... 1 became 2 and 2 became 5 and by 7pm when we were meeting for dinner we'd lost count.
Dinner was more interesting than normal. Not because of the afternoon drinking session but because we had pre-ordered the Peruvian special; Guinea Pig. It came out first as a whole. It even had a pepper in its mouth. We took some pictures and then it went back to the kitchen to be served up. It tasted like fatty chicken and nothing special.
Cuzco - Day 60 - 28/11/2012 (Wednesday)
We had a night bus tonight and had to check out by 10 we had the whole day to fill and as it was our 5th day in Cuzco we weren't sure what to do. A group of us went to a convert museum but you could only buy a tourist ticket for about 20 sites and not just the one place. It was rather expensive so we gave that a miss. We then to another museum where some bishops live. It was full of art and no one really understood it so we had a lo around but didn't stay long. We then wanted to climb the hill near our hotel to see some Inca ruins but on the way we got distracted by a Starbucks so went in and had a Christmas drink. This is rather significant because no where starts doing Xmas until the 1st of December (like it should be back home) so it was the first time we'd felt Christmassy. We did then walk up the hill but near the top we were told we needed another one of these tourist tickets. So instead we walked up the hill opposite, saw a Christ the redeemer and got better views of the ruins. We didn't give up on going in to the ruins and tried to take a back entrance but someone got to us there to.
On the way down the second funniest thing of the day happened (the funniest is to follow). This alpaca with pink Pom poms in its ears started walking towards us. It didn't look friendly but then it spotted a little child and ran straight for the child. The mother managed to get in the way and kick it and it went off. We couldn't help laughing and I don't think the mum was to impressed with us. The alpaca then went on to attack some llamas and other alpacas. We then went back to town and looked into some more shops before going for lunch. We had a set menu which was really cheap and we had 4 courses. Rather stuffed we still had a few hours to kill so went for another walk to an arty area and a fountain. As we were walking around this old person who at first we thought was a man got undressed and climbed in the fountain. After splashing around for a bit we realised it was an old woman. Everyone in the square was laughing and taking photos. Shortly after we found a cafe with happy hour and jenga. What more could you want. After a few games we went back to the hotel and then onto a bus which took us to the bus station for yet another night bus.
