April 22nd (Wednesday) - Day 52 - Kalbarri to Monkey Mia
Left Kalbarri quite early and drove about 6 hours to Monkey Mia. We stopped about half way there at some road stop. It was like something out of a horror movie. We were hungry but not feeling adventurouses and all we could muster was a "sausage roll". This thing was discusting and had more onion than sausage. We had a look around Denham before getting to Monkey Mia. We had not booked and all they had left were unpowered sites. We setup hoping the battery would last long enough to keep our food cold until we could cook it later. We wandered down to the beach and had a look at the numerous tours that went from here. We decided on an afternoon animal cruise as we got a free sunset cruise to. We sat on the beach for the rest of the day and had another BBQ in the evening. We meet some "strange but cool" people that evening who were parked beside us. They gave us a bit of advice on where to go next.
April 23rd (Thursday) - Day 53 - Monkey Mia
We had a bit of a lay in and then went to the beach in time to see the dolphin feeding. The dolphins come right up to the shore line and take fish out of peoples hands. it's the first time I have seen dolphins so close in the wild. I was not picked to feed them :( We moved our camper to a powered site that we had booked the day before and went back to the beach. I found a hole in the ground and could not resist being a child and linking it up to the sea and flooding it. By the time I was done it was a huge structure equalling that of the great wall of China. We went and had lunch and went to get on our cruise. The guy came over and said it was cancelled because of the bad weather. We looked out at the calm blue sea and could not believe it!! Annoyed we sat back on the beach for the afternoon once we got our refund. We went back to the camper and I realised we still had the ticket for the free evening cruise. Being cheeky I said we should try and get on it even though we had our money back. Sure enough they let us on no questions asked! We sailed off into the sunset a few miles off shore. All of a sudden someone said they could see dolphins. There were hundreds of them jumping out the water feeding. With the sunset in the back ground it was a perfect sight. The journey back took a lot longer as we were against the wind and it was starting to get cold. It was a nice end to a partly ruined day.
