August 30th (Sunday Again) - Day 182 - Los Angeles
Due to the time difference we landed 10 hours later in LA; 10 hours before we left Fiji. The fight wasn't too bad on the way over. Managed about an hour's sleep, watched a few films etc. As we were close to the front of the plane we were one of the first off which meant we didn't have to queue long for immigration. We did however have to wait ages for our bags. Normally this wouldn't have mattered but we had not checked in for our next flight and it left in 90 minutes time. Once we got our bags we went through customs and found out where we had to drop our bags for the next flight. Why we had to get them in the first place was beyond me - they could have just transferred them. We then didn't know where we had to go to check in. There was a really busy desk that we couldn't get anywhere close to, so decided to go to the main check in desk. We had to wait a while to be seen and were one of the last people to check in for the flight. This meant we didn't get a seat together. It then took us ages to get through security. We reached our gate with minutes to spare. We now had another 10 hour flight ahead of us. I didn't sleep a wink so ended up watching about 4 films. Once we landed back in Heathrow we were out the airport within minutes. So much so that once we walked out into the arrivals area, Sarah's parents weren't quite expecting us and we couldn't find them for a minute or two. It was such an odd experience being back home; but at the same time strangely natural.
THE END.
