April 20th (Monday) - Day 50 - Fremantle to Geraldton
Checked out the hostel and found a phone box to check on the status of our camper van. After putting shed loads of money in the phone box we found out they had given our camper van away!! Really annoyed I then had to try 3 others before I found a company that had one. Luckily we got through to this English guy who had just taken over a company and he had one in. It was also really lucky that he was not based to far from where were. It was a lot more than we wanted to pay for a van but was better than being stuck for a few days. We got the bus straight to his place, filled in the forms, were shown how everything works and we were off. It was like driving a tank at first and it also did not help that my navigator was rubbish! We ended up driving around Perth for 30 minutes before we found the right road. 5 hours and 400km later we reached Geraldton and set everything up. It was already quite late so spent the evening in the camp site. The camper was really ace. It was the size of a mini bus but slightly taller. It had a large bed in the back with folded up to be a seating area. It also had a sink, gas cooker fridge, cupboards - the works. We cooked some dinner, played some cards and then went to bed.
