July 29th (Wednesday) - Day 150 - (Lake) Tekapo
A nice fresh start and we were back on the bus with the mad driver. Our first stop this morning was to climb the world's steepest street. Something like 1 in 2.8. It started really level but soon started to incline. Sarah and I went rushing on ahead and were the 2nd ones to the top, puffing and panting of course. The driver had told us there was a cafe at the top but he lied! The way back down was far easier. The next stop was a walk on the beach to see the Moeraki Boulders, huge great rocks just scattered across the seashore renowned for their unique spherical shape. Despite the scenery it's now become hard to stay awake on the buses so I had a kip for a few hours. After lunch we stopped at the southern hemispheres largest soil dam then did a few more photo type stops. Once we reached Lake Tekapo the driver took us to this quaint little church. We got some cool pictures of the church with the lake and the mountains in the back ground. Our crazy driver kept going saying it was going to snow and we'd be stuck here for days. Not good as we had a flight the next day. We got dropped off at our hostel and as it was just getting dark we went for a quick walk into town (if you can call it that) and along the lake front. When we got back to the hostel someone had put on Titanic and as there was nothing else to do we watched that. I soon got bored of that so started drinking and making some dinner. After dinner we were chatting to Laura and Edel for a bit and then they asked if they could use our laptop to upload some pictures. Hours later we finally got them all done.
