Hello again from Florence!!
Today has been so hot in Florence! Hope the weather hasn't been too bad for everyone at home!
We started the day with some breakfast in this little cafe we discovered last night! I had a cappucino (much better than costa's! sorry!) and a chocolate crossaint! After a caffiene boost we decided to walk to one of the highest points right over the other side of Florence as we heard the views of the city from there were fantastic! and they were right! As we were walking up the steep stairs to the top we were wondering if it would be worth it! We got to the top and the views were breathtaking!! After loads of snaps we took to the shade to cool off and tucked into a cool and refreshing gelatto! We also visited some of the churches in the area, but this was mainly to get out of the midday heat!
We then stopped off at a little cafe and had a pizza, yes, not lasange! I made a concious effort not to eat lasange today!
After lunch we decided to visit the Uffizi gallery which is meant to be one of the best art galleries in Italy, we queued for an hour but it wasn't that bad because we got talking to this couple from Leeds! Its a small world!
It was nice to get into the gallery from the heat outside but to be honest it wasn't my cup of tea! once you've seen one painting you've seen them all I think. Shaun was trying to tell me that a painting is meant to evoke some feelings, but the only thing I was feeling was bordem!
It was ok though, I think its one of those things you have to do whilst in Florence!
We then came back to the hostel after a day in the sunshine. We were meant to be staying in this other hotel but it looked awful so we're back in the hostel sharing with two guys, a german (shaun assumes! we haven't seen him yet!) and a guy from South Korea! Certainly an interesting mix of people!
We've just been for some tea and popped into the supermarket on the way back and bought our usual stuff- chocolate, ham and bread! oh and some chocolate crossaints for breakfast!
It's our last day in Florence tomorrow so we will have to plan what we're doing! We get on a train tomorrow night and end up in Palermo on Sunday (well thats the plan anyway!). So the next time you hear from us, we'll be in Sicily!
Lots of love,
Tasha and Shaun x
