Possibly the highlight of our trip so far, the Whitsundays and The Great Barrier Reef were fantastic. We decided to do a once in a lifetime helicopter flight out over the islands and landing on the reef. It was so amazing. We took off from Airlie Beach and flew to Hamilton Island where we picked up two other passengers, then off we went. We flew over the famous view of Whitehaven Bay, then out over nothing but blue sea. On the way we even saw a baby whale in the wild which made Nikki very happy!! We landed on a platform at reefworld after flying over the reef, and close to heart reef too. We then went snorkelling on the reef with the fish and it was great. There was a massive fish down there who scared us a bit though. We then had lunch and spent time looking at the underwater observatory and went on a semi-sub to see the reef again, then got the boat back, through the Whitsundays back to Airlie. It was an unforgettable experience and I will never ever forget it!!
