Wanaka is a small little country town with a fantastic view of Lake Wanaka surrounded by mountains. It's a very picturesque place and easy to see why it is so popular with travellers. We arrived early afternoon and had time to look around. There is not an awful lot to do in the town, but there are some beautiful walks around the area. We were staying in the Wanaka Hotel, which is backpacker accommodation, but also a hotel, and guess what, we had a lovely room with a balcony and even an ensuite! That would have boon good enough, but it also had a bath! Something that we have not seen for a while! It is a nice place and definately somewhere to revisit. xxxxx
