Neil's Round the World Trip!
I got up around 9 and got the train to Bondi Beach. it was so hot-must have been 30c! I checked in to my bohemian hostel which is so laid back and backpackerish. I met all the guys in my dorm and then one of the guys (an English Pro-Golfer) asked me if I wanted to go and snorkell so I did. I found the snorkel a bit difficult at first and swallowed pints of sea water before getting the hang of it! It was amazing seeing the fishes and some were huge blue fish (maybe 2 metres long) I think I'll like the Great Barrier Reef if it's much better than what i've seen in Bondi.
I sat in the sun for a few hours under the baking hot sun. Bondi is the busiest beach I have seen! I had a fruit smoothie and then went to the hostel BBQ (which was free) with the Canadian guys and the rest of the hostel. I chatted to lots of people; there were oil industry guys on breaks, a guy called Pete who started a backpacking site (which alledgedly was going to make him millions) but alas it went bust and he now needs to go back to New Zealand to wind it up and pay nearly $40,000. I got speaking to an Irish guy from Kilkenny and he urged me to do a sky dive at Mission Beach in the Gold Coast.
The BBQ was superb and we went to the Bondi Hotel after and sipped drinks on the outdoor patio watching the Bondi surf crash against the beach..amazing.
Later we watched the Manchester Derby in a little bar adjacent to the Hotel. I went to bed about 3am. I also phoned Ida so I reckon my phone bill is going to be shocking!!
