Neil's Round the World Trip!
I've arrived at my hostel in Sydney which seems pretty cool and is huge compared to the small hostel in Singapore. My flight was ok although it took ages to get through Australian customs, must have been about an hour of standing in a queue before even getting my baggage.
I left Singapore at the right time as it is now "the rainy season" and on my last day it poured non-stop from when I got up in the morning until I flew out of the airport.
I slept for a few hours in the afternoon and then just chilled out until the evening so still haven't seen anything of Sydney! I will rectify that situation soon! I need a haircut!
I have been speaking to people in my dorm, most of them are English. I went with a few guys and girls to Chinatown. It's not a very big area compared to the Singaporean Chinatown but there are numerous Chinese restaurants. We chose one and had a nice meal. The portions were huge and it only cost 12 pounds. I hadn't eaten since my Quantas in-flight meal so I treated myself!!
We walked further on into the Kings Cross area which is pretty dodgy with sex shops, nightclubs and bars. We went to a pub called the 3 monkeys, it was ok. I tried the Australian beer; Victoria Beer. It's quite nice and it's definitely better than Tennents! Oh and they ID everywhere like the USA so I could do with my driving licence being sent out (easier to carry than passport) soon not just for driving purposes buit ID too!
We left the pub and continued on into the Haymarket area and as we were walking this Australian guy passing us (I was wearing my Spanish t-shirt) says "What does it say on your t-shirt mate?" so I replied "I love Spanish girls" and he retorts "oh classic mate". It was hilarious but I suppose you had to be there...
We went to the Side Bar in our hostel and listened to some music like the Proclaimers haha.. but I was still tired from my flight so I retired to bed early.
