I have had a really good week up here in the snow. It's started to really quieten down now which means we have to make our own fun. This involves bar boules, kitchen cricket, and kitchen tobogganing....some fun times.
I have just spent the day with Dale. We went out for lunch at one of the local places which overlook the snow which was really nice sat beside the open fire. Had a glass of wine with lunch then had a walk down the village before we sat in the sunshine having a coffee. The weather has been so warm recently. Today, for example I went out in my thongs and I haven't done that since I was in Sydney....warm weather though means the snow is melting too so I am not so sure the lifts will be open until the 27th-thats the official closing date. Dale has left now as his dad is sick which is sad but he will drive to see me on my days off....3hours each way though so we thought that we may just stay somewhere not so far so that he doesn't have to drive so far. When I finish he will come to pick me up to take me home for a few days before we go on holiday.
After I said 'see youlater' to dale I got my snow gear on and headed up to the summit of mount buller with a few guys from work, a few beers and plenty of layers as we were off to watch the sunset. We caught the last chair rides up as far as we could. I then strapped off my board (well, dale's) and hiked the last of the way which isn't so easy in snow gear, carrying my snowboard and in the snow. We got there about 4.30 and cracked an icy beer as waited for the sun to set. It was one of the most amazing sunsets ever. I was sat on one of the highest mountains in Australia watching the sunset with a beer and some mates. It was unreal. I loved it and the pictures are awesome. You can see over some reservoirs which reflect the light like little mirrors. Stunning. Just stunning.
Loving the snow still but I am so ready to get on the beach with my bikini. Only 2-3 weeks left so its all good. Just got to save, save, save now for the 2 months off when I am done here.
Put some more pics on for you to have a look at. Thanks for still reading...nearly 2 years on!!! 8 weeks to go before I am home J xx
