We were really looking forward to some warmer weather on arrival in Brisbane, but no!! Actually it was warmer but is was also raining - it was like being in a shower! We caught the shuttle from the airport to our hostel and checked in. Despite the rain we went for a wander around the city and ended up doing a bit of shopping (new jeans for Mark!) and got some food. We went back to the hostel and decided to brave the weather again as we were so wet anyway, had a few beers then back to the hostel again for a chilli and bed.

The weather the next day was a bit better (by the time we got out of bed!) so we walked down to the botanical gardens and had a lovely walk around (and saw a few gheko's - now a new addition to Alicia's animal impressions!). After some lunch Mark went for a haircut at the Brisbane school of hairdressing - it was a really nice cut from the front but the step in the back was so 80's! After being reassured it would grow out we headed back to hostel for tea and a few beers of course.

Our last full day in Brisbane and we had a really lazy day, a bit of a lie in and did all our washing. So we decided we should head out for a night on the town! We found a really cool basement bar/restaurant and had a few drinks and a pizza and they were also doing a pub quiz so we took part for a bit of a laugh and we didn't come last - Yippee! but the team that did win forgot to take their prize (wine and beer) so they asked us if we wanted it which we of course accepted but then realised we were leaving town the next day so they happily took them back and gave us free beers behind the bar! We ended up being the last there with the bar staff and the chef! What a laugh! Why do we seem to find these places the night before we leave! So we stumbled home and tried to get some sleep before our 7 hour bus journey the next day to Hervey Bay.
