So my friend, Julie sent me a message last night inviting me to run in the Color Me Rad race this morning. Her friend had registered but was unable to go, and she was looking for someone to fill her spot for free. I'm not much of a runner, but I have been trying to run regularly as part of a healthier lifestyle...you know, embrace the Colorado lifestyle. I went to a House of Prayer last night with some friends, so on my way home I stopped to pick up a white tee shirt for the race.
I met up with Julie and her friends on campus and we carpooled to the Botanical Gardens at Chatfield. It's a good things we did because there were so many racers. People were leaving their cars on the side of the road and running to the race because the traffic was so bad. The field was full of cars.
Let me explain what this race is about: it's a 5K where every kilometer or so they hit you with dye. Most of it is colored cornstarch, but some of it was liquid. At the end of the race they give everyone a color bomb (plastic bag of colored cornstarch) to throw at their friends. This took place in the color bomb area. Also in that area were some guys on a cherry picker that would announce times for group color bombings and throw down additional color bombs and other prizes. The day was a lot of fun!
